Today I have to introduce you to a product that I cannot live without, Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle. I first received a sample of this product in my monthly birch box (which I no longer subscribe too, not worth it in my opinion). It is the best leave in conditioner I’ve ever tried, lightweight, doesn’t make your hair greasy (free from paraben and sulfates), and smells amazing! I have long, thick, highlighted, slightly wavy hair, and this product works wonders. I also use it at the beach/pool since it offers UV /heat protection. Absolutely recommend it!
What’s your must have/can’t live without beauty product?
Disclaimer: I am not being compensated for this post. I just think this stuff is kinda rad and want to share it with ya’ll!
Last Thursday night my girlfriend twisted my arm (yeah right) to head over to Hardywood Brewery for some craft beers and food truck action (so trendy). If you haven’t done this and reside in the RVA area, DO IT! It’s a lot of fun, the worst part was trying to decide which food truck to go after. Sooooo many options made it sooooo difficult for this girl with big eyes and a small stomach.
So I went with….
The Dog Wagon! I ordered the “All American Dog” with garlic fries, and it was amaze balls!! I love hot dogs, I don’t care if it’s pig butt, it’s damn good!
Below are some places I highly recommend if you get the chance to visit this beautiful vacation destination!
Best ice cream is tied between Ice Cream Cafe and Sundae School I will say the line is always shorter at Ice Cream Cafe and just as good. Don’t forget the jimmies!
Best seafood (from what I’m told) is Kate’s Seafood in Brewtser. It’s a walk up window sort of deal, but it’s right near the beach, so you can enjoy it with the absolute best views.
Best overall restaurant is hands down The Orleans Inn. It is nestled right on one of the inlets from the bay and has food to please everyone. This Inn is rich in history and is even rumored to be haunted, double cool!!
Best bayside beach has to be Crosby Landing Beach. Since it is bayside, you may want to check the tides, because during low tide on Cape Cod Bay, you would have to walk out a good number of yards before you could even get in enough water to swim in. The water is calmer and warmer on the bay, my kinda scene.
Best oceanside beach is Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. Cold water, big waves, but a great beach! It’s a part of the National Seashore, and it is wonderfully preserved. The water temperature barely peaks in the 60’s, so be prepared for the initial shock. It is worth it though, because the waves are great for body surfing!
Best place to grab a cocktail is Land Ho! This place is legendary in my family, stories dating back way before I graced this earth with my presence. They have two locations in Cape Cod, and one in Costa Rica. Would love to check that one out.
If you have been to the Cape, what are your favorite must have stops? If you’re thinking of going, I’d love to throw out some more suggestions. Until next year!
Cape Cod has been a big part of my summer vacations, ever since birth. Growing up, my family and I would spend 2 weeks in Brewster and my fondest memories always included the beach, bike trail, and getting ice cream every night. Not much has changed, just maybe more boozing. There is also great seafood on the 65 mile long peninsula (technicaly an island since you can only access by bridge), however I don’t like seafood, so I’m normally chomping on all american favorites like chicken and beef. I know, I know…I don’t like seafood, something has to be wrong with me. I always try it when offered, but I just can’t bring my taste buds to accept it. Oh well, on to some favorite photos of my time down the Cape.
JUMP if you’re excited to be on vacation!!!
My idea of a perfect night, bonfire on Cape Cod Bay, ahhhhhmazzzzingggg!
One of my favorite places, The Brewster Store! The beautiful hydrangeas outside the house, and of course our barrel of empties…classy people we are!
I’m so sad it’s over, but am already on to planning my next trip…Labor Day Weekend in OBX (Outer Banks, NC). This is the southern version of Cape Cod and I can’t wait to share it with you.
My family and I have been vacationing “down the Cape” (what us Bostonians say) ever since I was little, and my year doesn’t feel complete until I arrive. Now, I’m at the airport headed back to Virginia, depressed that vacation is over. But who says I can’t bring the beach with me?
I look forward telling you all about the Cape and sharing my favorite spots. More to come!
I am not a runner. I have always had a hatred for it and couldn’t bring myself to run more than a mile at a time without gasping for air. Well recently that has changed, when my boyfriend tricked me into running a 5k (don’t ask). Once I discovered I could actually complete 3.1 miles without dying, I was hooked! I felt so incredibly proud of myself and loved the satisfaction it gave me. That being said, I incorporate 3-4 mile runs a few times a week. I never thought I would see the day where I would be ok with running. Mind boggling, let me tell ya!
Side note, I just bought a pair of Nike running shoes at Marshalls for $39.99 and am totally in love with them! Next time your in the market for new running kicks, check out Marshalls or TJ Maxx, they usually have a decent selection under $50!
I cannot say enough good things about Lush products. AMAZING! Lush products are 100% vegetarian, handmade, natural, and free from any animal testing. In a day where cosmetic companies pump chemicals in their products, it’s nice to know you have options, free from any of that crap! Your skin is your largest organ, so it’s important to be cognitive of the products you are using.
Well the great news is that they just opened a store in RVA! I stopped by there to pick up a few of my favorite products, and already have plans to go back this week to grab some more. I think I have a problem…but who cares, this stuff is great!
My favorite product is the dream cream, this stuff works wonders! It is gentle enough to use on your body and face (I have sensitive skin too). My skin has never felt smoother, especially in the winter, this stuff deserves to be called “Dream Cream”
Howdy people! Kinda of a delayed post, but I wanted to share my time at Chincoteague Island with y’all. If you aren’t familiar with the Virginia coast, Chincoteague is located in the far NorthEast section of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Whenever I told local Virginians that we were going there for the 4th, I got the same response each time…”why, there isn’t that much to do there”….and you know what?? They were right! But that is exactly what the bf and I wanted, a relaxing, calm beach town where we could relax, bask in the sun and read a few books.
We stay at a beautiful Bed&Breakfast, that had so much history and charm, it was a great pick! The innkeepers Bob and Carole, were such great hosts. Bob was so knowledgeable in all that was Chincoteague, and Carole could whip up some hearty breakfast biscuits!
See below for such snaps of our long weekend retreat!
The beach was absolutely beautiful!
Fried pickles are my absolute favorite! I’ve never tried them before moving down south, but I am hooked. Carole’s delicious breakfast. Nothing like some champs and world cup coverage on the iPhone!
Beautiful cranes on our bike ride. Nothing says America like Mexican beer. The underwhelming fireworks display.
My rusted bike, almost crashed into oncoming traffic several times. Mister Whippy is amazing, had it numerous times on our trip. The Watson House lit up at night.
Summer is going by too fast. Hope everyone is enjoying every minute!
Last week I was perusing etsy, and stumbled across this amazing necklace. I absolutely love how detailed this necklace is, while still remaining dainty and refined. The best part is, they can position the heart anywhere in the state, so you can show some hometown love.
I’m wearing mine today, getting excited to fly home next week for our annual Cape Cod vacation! Hope everyone has a fantastic Monday, hopefully this week flies by!
Hi Everyone!! Talk about slacking, I haven’t loaded up a post for you in over a week, woof! Is everyone looking forward to this long weekend? I’m headed to Chincoteague Island for the long weekend, praying that Tropical Storm Arthur stays far off the coast. Is it me or is it a little too early for this types of shenanigans to be going on? Anywho, hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend, spending time with the people who make you smile the most:)
