Below are some places I highly recommend if you get the chance to visit this beautiful vacation destination!
Best ice cream is tied between Ice Cream Cafe and Sundae School I will say the line is always shorter at Ice Cream Cafe and just as good. Don’t forget the jimmies!
Best seafood (from what I’m told) is Kate’s Seafood in Brewtser. It’s a walk up window sort of deal, but it’s right near the beach, so you can enjoy it with the absolute best views.
Best overall restaurant is hands down The Orleans Inn. It is nestled right on one of the inlets from the bay and has food to please everyone. This Inn is rich in history and is even rumored to be haunted, double cool!!
Best bayside beach has to be Crosby Landing Beach. Since it is bayside, you may want to check the tides, because during low tide on Cape Cod Bay, you would have to walk out a good number of yards before you could even get in enough water to swim in. The water is calmer and warmer on the bay, my kinda scene.
Best oceanside beach is Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. Cold water, big waves, but a great beach! It’s a part of the National Seashore, and it is wonderfully preserved. The water temperature barely peaks in the 60’s, so be prepared for the initial shock. It is worth it though, because the waves are great for body surfing!
Best place to grab a cocktail is Land Ho! This place is legendary in my family, stories dating back way before I graced this earth with my presence. They have two locations in Cape Cod, and one in Costa Rica. Would love to check that one out.
If you have been to the Cape, what are your favorite must have stops? If you’re thinking of going, I’d love to throw out some more suggestions. Until next year!
Cape Cod has been a big part of my summer vacations, ever since birth. Growing up, my family and I would spend 2 weeks in Brewster and my fondest memories always included the beach, bike trail, and getting ice cream every night. Not much has changed, just maybe more boozing. There is also great seafood on the 65 mile long peninsula (technicaly an island since you can only access by bridge), however I don’t like seafood, so I’m normally chomping on all american favorites like chicken and beef. I know, I know…I don’t like seafood, something has to be wrong with me. I always try it when offered, but I just can’t bring my taste buds to accept it. Oh well, on to some favorite photos of my time down the Cape.
JUMP if you’re excited to be on vacation!!!
My idea of a perfect night, bonfire on Cape Cod Bay, ahhhhhmazzzzingggg!
One of my favorite places, The Brewster Store! The beautiful hydrangeas outside the house, and of course our barrel of empties…classy people we are!
I’m so sad it’s over, but am already on to planning my next trip…Labor Day Weekend in OBX (Outer Banks, NC). This is the southern version of Cape Cod and I can’t wait to share it with you.
My family and I have been vacationing “down the Cape” (what us Bostonians say) ever since I was little, and my year doesn’t feel complete until I arrive. Now, I’m at the airport headed back to Virginia, depressed that vacation is over. But who says I can’t bring the beach with me?
I look forward telling you all about the Cape and sharing my favorite spots. More to come!
Howdy people! Kinda of a delayed post, but I wanted to share my time at Chincoteague Island with y’all. If you aren’t familiar with the Virginia coast, Chincoteague is located in the far NorthEast section of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Whenever I told local Virginians that we were going there for the 4th, I got the same response each time…”why, there isn’t that much to do there”….and you know what?? They were right! But that is exactly what the bf and I wanted, a relaxing, calm beach town where we could relax, bask in the sun and read a few books.
We stay at a beautiful Bed&Breakfast, that had so much history and charm, it was a great pick! The innkeepers Bob and Carole, were such great hosts. Bob was so knowledgeable in all that was Chincoteague, and Carole could whip up some hearty breakfast biscuits!
See below for such snaps of our long weekend retreat!
The beach was absolutely beautiful!
Fried pickles are my absolute favorite! I’ve never tried them before moving down south, but I am hooked. Carole’s delicious breakfast. Nothing like some champs and world cup coverage on the iPhone!
Beautiful cranes on our bike ride. Nothing says America like Mexican beer. The underwhelming fireworks display.
My rusted bike, almost crashed into oncoming traffic several times. Mister Whippy is amazing, had it numerous times on our trip. The Watson House lit up at night.
Summer is going by too fast. Hope everyone is enjoying every minute!
